Ryan says someone made that arch too big. We stopped at the Arch in St. Louis. Tom and Zach went up to the top while Ryan and I hit the gift shop. The arch is 630 feet tall and 630 ft wide at the base. Tom said you could see a long ways from the top but the cars taking you up were a little tight. He said you could feel it swaying a little at the top. It was hard to get pictures from the outside since the Arch is so tall. The kids thought it was cool that they got to touch the arch. Zach said it was probably 94 degrees hot. Have I complained about the heat yet? It's miserable hot. We just passed a bank sign that said it's still 95 degrees outside. The RV parking is of course way far away from the arch so it was a hot walk but amazingly no one complained.
We were hoping to get out of St Louis before rush traffic but we got caught in a little of it at the west side of the city. The GPS Lady saved the day and routed us around the 2 miles of backup. Tom said the GPS rocks.
We're on I70 westbound now heading towards Kansas City. We're about 14 hours from Colorado but not sure how far we're going to drive tonight. The plan is to be there at some random campsite by dark tomorrow night. We don't have reservations anywhere so it'll be a surprise where we're staying :) I'm hoping for a hotel tonight with a real shower and bed instead of a rest stop. We'll have to see....
